Lead generation & prospecting — finding potential customers through cold calls, referrals, online leads, networking.
Customer interaction — meeting customers (field sales), or contacting them via phone / email (inside sales). Explaining product/service features, benefits, negotiating terms.
Quoting & closing deals — preparing quotations, negotiating price & delivery, working to close sales in line with targets.
Customer relationship management — maintaining good communication, ensuring customer satisfaction, handling queries / complaints, follow-ups.
Market feedback & competition monitoring — understanding what competitors are doing, gathering feedback from customers about product / service, reporting to management.
Sales reporting & targets — keeping track of own progress vs targets (monthly, quarterly), updating CRM or similar systems, reporting metrics.
Coordination with other teams — operations, logistics, finance, after-sales support etc., to ensure deliveries, invoicing, customer service go smoothly.
Base salary + fixed pay — a fixed monthly or yearly salary that provides stability.
Commission — variable pay based on how much you sell. Bigger sales = more commission. Uncapped commissions often motivate high performers.
Bonuses & Incentives — monthly / quarterly / yearly bonuses for hitting targets. Could also include special rewards like trips or gifts for top performers
Performance-linked rewards — e.g. extra commission if you exceed your quota, or accelerators (higher commission rate after certain thresholds).
